DRILL
HALL
Built
in 1904 on the ruins of a “native prison,” the Drill Hall
presents a fascinating story within Johannesburg's and the country's contradictory
social, military and political shifts. Always a base for military forces,
it housed the infamous Treason Trial in 1956. It witnessed the dramatic
changes of post apartheid Johannesburg, burned down in 2001 and has been
rebuilt as a multi-use heritage site, shared by national reserve forces,
social organisations and the JPP. |

The
Point Blank Gallery forms the headquarters of the JPP and is part of the
Drill Hall precinct. It has been the platform for multi-disciplinary events,
exhibitions, workshops and presentations that have drawn very different
audiences. We invite proposals to make use of the space and contribute
to the overall vision for theDrill Hall as a cultural hub and heritage
